Long-distance move from Delaware City, DE to Augusta Springs, VA

Thank you for making it so easy

I hired them for a studio move and didn’t want to deal with carrying things myself. The crew of United Transportation Moving & Storage showed up, did a quick walkthrough, and got started. Items were wrapped before being taken out, and floors were protected during the process. At the destination, all things were brought in and set where I asked. I checked items as they came in and didn’t find damage.

Do not use this Business

It was the worst experience for us from start to finish. Our items were stored with them from 8/23/23 to delivery on 1/30/24. They only delivered 40% of our belongings. 60% was either stolen or shipped somebody else. United could not tell us what happened to our lost belonging. We tried to file a claim with them but wanted arbitration because they did not want to give us a fair value for our belonging. They will not return e-mails for refund for storage or moving costs.

Second time using United Transportation

Fortunately we’ve had an unset time to make our move out-of-State and thus are making our move in parts allowing us to be able to live in both homes. This being our second load using United Transportation Moving and Storage …our first load was a bit chaotic due to we were new to the whole “moving procedure” ….after that first load we learned the in’s and out’s which made this second load a great deal easier. We had the same crew at pick-up (which was nice to see them again) …they arrived promptly on schedule, listened intently to my concerns and were extremely thorough and knowledgeable in caring for our precious antiques and breakables - now I just sit back and wait for delivery. One more load to go and I fully intend on using United Transportation on that load as well …at which time I shall be updating my review, so stay tuned.

Efficient, priced fairly, on time.

I had to move my small warehouse setup and needed it handled properly. The crew worked steadily and didn't waste time. I checked in throughout the process and was comfortable with how things were managed. The transfer went according to plan, and the day wrapped up without issues. I'm satisfied with the overall work done by the United Transportation Moving & Storage.

Wow, these guys are great; thanks a lot!

I had a very positive experience moving them. I was worried about the table legs getting wobbly during the move, but they wrapped them tightly and secured them in the truck. They arrived exactly when they said they would and finished the whole job under the estimated time. It was a very straightforward process, and I didn't have to worry about a thing.

Efficient and polite moving company!

Great to work with a team that actually does what they say. We had to move during business hours, and they planned around our schedule. The movers showed up on time and moved all the office furniture without causing problems. They worked carefully, and nothing was rushed or sloppy. I liked that they asked before moving anything that looked tricky. The whole thing felt easy and stayed on track. It was clear they knew what they were doing. Would book United Transportation Moving & Storage again without thinking twice.

Peaceful Service!

The crew came to the house and got straight to work after a quick look around. They wrapped and secured items before loading and handled things in an orderly way. The loading was done with care, and nothing was rushed. Once we reached the new place, they followed the layout instructions without mixing things up. The move stayed quiet and controlled throughout the day. It did not turn into a long or chaotic process.

Excellent Service!

My move was a small one with only about ten boxes and a bed frame, so I was worried that a moving company would not take me seriously. United Transportation Moving & Storage did not treat my job like it was beneath them, and they sent two guys who finished in less than an hour. I paid the minimum, which I already knew about ahead of time, and there were no surprises when the truck pulled away.

Sublime Experience!

I had to move out of my place in a hurry because of a sudden change in my plans, and I was not really prepared for it. The movers adjusted to my situation without making things difficult for me. They worked through my unorganized packing and still managed to get everything sorted. By the time we reached the new place, I felt a lot more at ease than I did in the morning.

Long-distance move from Beaver Dam, KY to Bath Springs, TN

Well organized!

The move was across state, and I had about fifty boxes plus a lot of awkward shaped items like a treadmill and a bicycle and a large mirror. Richard looked at the mirror and said he would carry that one himself because it made him nervous to let anyone else touch it. He wrapped it in three layers of blankets and carried it down the stairs sideways, and it made it without a single crack. That mirror belonged to my grandmother, so I cannot even express how grateful I am.

Long-distance move from California to Washington

They destroyed my desk and blamed me for it.

I had fairly negative experience with this company. They destroyed my desk (worth $1000) pushing it up the stairs and through the door frame and scratched the wall. Then the foreman actually blamed me for the damage, arguing that I asked him to bring it up. At no point did he say: “I am afraid the desk will not fit through the door/hall, so we have to place it elsewhere”. No, they ignored our suggestion that if it looked like a tight fit, then the desk could be further disassembled.  Instead they just started pushing it and told us later: “Sorry, it did not make it”. This is very unprofessional. They were late both during pickup and delivery. And as a result they were rushing: I could not trust the guy to assemble my bunk bed because he was not careful about it and I was afraid he would break a window swinging the parts of the bed. In fact they assembled no furniture at all, even though it is in the contract.   They lost a box of my tools. And of course, they tried to cheat me with a surprise charge for loading/unloading because my move was not a straight delivery. They knew the dates of my move when they gave me an estimate, but did not include that charge into it.

Local move within California

- Under quote and then Overcharge.

NO STARS, IF I  HAD THE CHOICE I WOULD GIVE A NEGATIVE RATING AS I WANT INNOCENT PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THE CHEATERS! United Transportation Moving and Storage is a total rip-off!  United Transportation Moving & Storage under bids estimates to get work and ignores what is written into the contract Overcharged!! I contracted with United Transportation Moving & Storage to move my household items from Simi Valley, California to Sunnyvale, California in February 2015. We contracted for a set price, an (binding) NTE to be exact. NTE means Not to Exceed.  A Not-to-exceed deal means that the company agrees that your final price will not exceed the sum you agreed upon. This was done a month prior to the move, and confirmed no additional quotes would be needed as the move day approached since it was an NTE. I had very clearly mentioned several times to one Barbara the Sales Consultant that I personally will be driving from San Jose in the morning and that the truck driver should come between 12 noon to 1:00 pm.  On the day of the move day, the dispatcher a very rude to the core Roger called to inform me while I was driving to Simi Valley at 8:00 am that the movers had showed up at the Public Storage facility to move my stuff in-spite of several communications and explaining to Roger that I had clearly communicated several times that I was leaving from Sunnyvale at 7:00 am to reach Simi Valley after 12 noon.  Roger kept calling me and harassing me on phone that I have to pay $500 more for not being on the pickup site at 8:00 am.  I tried speaking to Barbara who I was told was no more working for the company.  Later when I tried calling her thru' another phone she answered the call and said that she had stepped out and was back again in the office.  I explained to her the conversation between Roger and self and that he was complaining that I was not at the site and he was not aware of the time for pick up and he was yelling and shouting at me on the phone.  Barbara assured me on the phone that she was sorry and mentioned Roger was a "jerk and talked [EDIT]" and to ignore him.  These were the literal terms used by Barbara about Roger.  Secondly upon reaching the spot the driver called Roger and Roger said that the job was underestimated and the price is going up and gave me the ultimatum of either paying the increase from $800 to $1450 or having them walk. I immediately contacted my sale person Barbara whom I was told was no more and was fired and transferred to other representatives Roger (the dispatcher who is rude and mean to the core) within the company. Long story short they said, Pay or we leave. Unfortunately, since I was leaving a leased property I had no choice and so my move needed to be that day so they twisted my arm into an increased price, which I told them I would debate on the other end of the move.  No Communication! When my stuff was to be delivered on March 30th, I was very frustrated with United Transportation Moving & Storage as there was constant lack of communication as well incorrect communication! As if moving was not stressful enough, they force you to continue to reach out to them for information (arrival, delivery, driver info, storage, etc.). There 24 hour delivery notice, turned out to be no notice at all! I was not informed by the driver at all and I kept calling him and with no response as I was informed by Roger and Barbara that I have to pay up first the balance money even before the delivery and the driver would be arriving in 15 minutes time.  I was at the facility waiting for him from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Then I was ordered by the driver to pay additional $175 in cash for using the elevator.  He was not ready to budge till I had to go to the bank to fetch the money and pay him before he even started off loading the truck. Stolen and Damaged Delivery items! Upon delivery of my household, I noticed that my Wii and Wii board were all missing, in addition a number of other items. Additionally, a number of items were significantly damaged including my dining room table (driver told us the warehouse must have dragged it), my Fan stand (broken), missing bed hardware, coffee table (large dent and deep scratches), the list goes on. Lastly, I asked for a receipt, time and time again approx 10 calls to them, I still do not have the receipt. In spite of charging me the full inflated amount United Transportation Moving and Storage charged my credit card additional $206.00 without my authorization.  I tried to contact them with no luck and have not responded to my emails either.

Long-distance move from California to Minnesota

Worst Customer Service.

This was one of the worst customer service I came across in United States. The point of contact KIM and BEN always find excuse to avoid listening to our concern. I live in a single bedroom and have very few items to ship. For this shipment they brought very large TRUCK which we can see only on highways. Since because it's a large Truck they cannot find parking space and I have to pay them for long carry of 300$ (long carry alone).

The person who came for pickup scarred us saying long carry alone will charge 700$. When I ask on what basis this has been charged he refused say the correct method of estimating it.

They are supposed to come for a pickup between 1 PM and 5 PM but they came around 9 PM. Since we are moving out next day to Minnesota, we need to do lot of purchase in terms of winter clothing and they screwed up everything. They are not even giving clear information on when they will be available. It was frustrating to call them every one hour from 3 PM to 8 PM.

The point of contact (KIM) also lied us saying they will be available in another 2 hours and she left office by 5 PM sharp without verifying whether they reached us or not. It was finally over by 9.30 PM and I have another 30 minutes to do my entire shopping.

When I contacted them post delivery to say all my concerns, they keep ignoring us. Before confirming the order they called us so many times but when we want to talk they turn blind.

When I say to Mr.Ben about long carry charge, he asked me how many feet the truck is away from home. I said hardly it could be between 100 to 150 feet (max 200 feet). He said, the Driver says 425 feet and asking me who is lying?

The driver didn't even calculate the number of feet and not even told us on what basis this will be charged. The word who is lying? is that a customer should face while doing business? The deviation between original estimate and actual cost is 500$. what kind of estimation is this?

Will Never do business again with them.

Long-distance move from California to Texas

Mover Beware!!

United Transportation Moving sent out a rep to estimate the amount of stuff that I had.  I showed her everything and was very honest with her.  They sent me a binding moving quote for $8,975.  I agreed to go with them and signed a Binding Order for Service.  On 7/8 they arrived to pick up my stuff.  The lead guy keep saying that I had too much stuff and would have to pay more.  I called Natalie the sales rep I was dealing with and she reassured me that the cost could not go up by more than 10% of the estimate.  So I went ahead and let them load up my stuff.  Later in the evening when they were almost done a supervisor (a Russian guy named Roger) came over.  He said right away, we have a big problem.  He accused me of lying and hiding stuff and said unless I agreed to pay more they would bring everything back.  Well I didn’t know what to do, I need to be in Texas (my car was already on the way) and I knew I would have a heck of a time finding another moving company, so I said ok.  I asked him how much more and he said he would figure it out.  After about an hour he gave me a new contract for $12,888.  I agreed to the amount and signed the contract.   I asked Roger how long it would take for me to get my stuff delivered.  He told me 3-5 days.  Well that turned out to be a big fat lie.  Once I got to Texas I would call the company everyday to get an update on my stuff and every day I would talk to a new person and get a different date on when it would be coming.   Finally I spoke to the manager, Alex and he told me my stuff would be arriving on Monday July 28th for sure and that the driver was in New Mexico.  I actually ended up getting my stuff on Thursday, July 31st and the driver told me that he had left California 2 days ago (so he left with my stuff on Tuesday).  So the whole story by Alex the manager was a lie.  These people and this company are the worst I have ever dealt with.  Also what they did was illegal.  The original estimate was binding and they were committed to stick to that amount.  I plan to take them to court and I would not recommend using them unless you want to get ripped off.  .

Long-distance move from Brooklyn, NY to Malibu, CA

Move within New York to california.

United Transportation moving and storage was recommended to me by a colleague of mine. To be honest, at first I was a bit skeptical to allow someone else handling my furniture, and especially my custom-build desks and cabinets, but it was entirely too much for me and my wife to handle on our own. My friend and associate, Jacob, had mentioned to me about these guys a few months ago, so I decided to give them a chance. I called them, and in less than four hours I had a representative at my home to give me an estimate. He carefully went over my items and explained the whole moving process, even gave me a discount on a few items, such as my pool table and my paintings. After that meeting, I knew there was no need for me to search any further for moving professionals. My move was scheduled on a Friday, to accommodate my personal schedule, and by the end of the weekend I had all my items in place at my new home. I even had time to crack a cold one at the end of the day on Sunday. My overall experience with Great Nation Van Lines was amazing! All my household items were carefully wrapped in blankets, boxes and bubble wrap, and they were in the same condition as they picked them up from my old house. According to my wife, all of her belongings were the same way, so happy wife, happy life! With such professionalism and coordination, I expected my estimate to go sky high, but instead it did not move a single dime. They even added a few small items from my garage to the move for free. For those of you, who take the time to read these reviews, I would like to say that my wife and I recommend this Moving Company at 110%. They are very professional, and they respect and value their client’s belongings. For me that is most important value in a service. I am very pleased with the choice I made, because I had no headaches during my move, did not hurt my back, and even had a few hundred bucks left over from my budget, which I gladly gave to the hard working employees of United Transportation to compliment their hard work.

Long-distance move from Zeigler, IL to Los Angeles, CA

Peaceful mind experience.

I hired United Transportation after being referred by my neighbor who use them to ship some furniture to Illinois. We didn’t cross state lines but we stayed within the Palm Beach county. I had a 4 bedroom house and was downsizing to my new home now. (2 bedroom ranch). The move took place in 3 separate days.

Day 1- The movers arrived early morning to pack the entire place up. Having had back surgery a few years ago, it’s almost impossible for me to lift anything heavy.

Day 2- The guys came back to finally load the truck. They would have been here until 2am if we tried loading on the same day, so we decided to load separelty. It’s amazing how these guys fit everything into the truck. It’s like a puzzle.

Day 3- We arrived at the new house. 1/4 of the stuff was going into the garage as my sister would be hauling it to her barn in Wellington. They unloaded the rest into the house and re-assembled my day bed along with all my other pieces. I am very thankful for the help.

Overall experience was much better than I anticipated. It’s skeptical having people you don’t know in your home, but they showed me that I had nothing to worry about. If my sister can’t have her husband remove these items from the house- she will be calling them.

Thank you!
highly recommending United Transportation for safe move.

Local move from Fort Worth, TX to Portland, TX

Move from Texas to Oregon.

My move from Texas to Oregon was brokered by Best Interstate Moving & Storage and they chose United Transportation M&S for the move. The movers were on time and courteous but the day before the delivery of my things the driver called me to ask to be paid in cash for the remaining payment ($3200); I went to the bank that morning and pulled out that cash. Then the same morning when my things were going to be delivered a secretary called me and told me NOT to pay in cash to the driver; when I told her I already had the cash she put the "owner" of the company on the phone (Alex something); this individual started yelling at me and telling me that if I didn't pay with a cashier check he was going to delay the delivery of my items for at least a week. I told him not to yell at me or threaten me as I wasn't refusing to pay and told him that the driver (with my items to be delivered that afternoon) had requested to be paid in cash for gas for the truck. He told me he didn't care about that and that I needed to pay with cashier check or he would not deliver my things, insane!. Extremely rude individual. By the time the driver arrived at my place I told him the situation and he accepted the cash. Some fragile items were broken (smashed is a better term) even after I packed them very carefully and marked the boxes as fragile. The other thing that was a bit of a scam was that in both (pick up and delivery) they charged me for "shuttles" because supposedly they couldn't get the large truck on either on these areas (and certainly at least in 1 location they could have easily done that). To me that was a scam. Beware of this company and look somewhere else.

Long-distance move from Cape Coral, FL to San Jose, CA

Best move.

I used United Transportation moving & Storage to move from Cape Coral Florida to Sam Jose CA. This company is full of true professionals. I really cannot recommend this company more. The whole process was seamless and transparent and stress free.
Boris was the driver and he came to my home to packed up my apartment showed up early (which was awesome) and were quick and efficient. Shout out to Saul, & Mark. I chose to pack up most of my things but the larger things like my full-length mirror, TV, couch, dresser, dining chairs and artwork they packed up with great care. I was amazed at how well they wrapped everything in plastic and blankets and more plastic.
After the guys took my stuff I got another call from customer service to make sure everything went well and to answer any questions. I was given a delivery window of 7- 10 days.

My stuff showed up on the morning of the 9th day. The driver called me 24 hours in advance and confirmed all the details.

The delivery guys were as nice, professional and efficient as the guys who packed up my stuff. They put everything back together and in the right place and helped clear all of the boxes. Again, pricing and paperwork was super transparent, and I was very comfortable with the whole process.

Overall, this being my first time doing a long distance move I was so nervous, but I really didn't have to be. The process was easy, clear and priced competitively. Also, none of my stuff was broken or misplaced. The cost was extremely competitive. I was quoted $4598 to move and not have to lift a finger, except signing and pulling out my credit card.

Highly recommended.

Con people.

They throw everything in boxes, electronics with shoes, lots of things damaged, broken and lost. They con you, in my opinion to squeeze every dollar they can. It cost me over $9000 dollars to have my belongings, lost, broken, damaged or stolen. I asked for a full refund for the packaging service, and they did ask to list all the items missing or damaged. I will update as the situation develop. I hope I'm terribly wrong and they do respond in a decent way.

On point movers.

We are really happy we went with United transportation When you hire movers, you always kinda wonder if they'll be careful with your appliances and how quick they'll really be. They were careful, super quick & we we're able to avoid all the stress of moving. They helped me finish the packing and even help me get rid of some trash. Unprofessional and unhelpful.

While not a “scam”, this company has been utterly unprofessional and unhelpful. The actual movers that United hires are pleasant and do a decent job (minus a few pieces of damaged furniture), but unfortunately, the company itself is disorganized and a nightmare to deal with.

First and foremost, there is zero proactive communication. You will never hear from them, and even when you call, more often than not, they have no information for you.

Relatedly, there is a huge disconnect between dispatch and their drivers. The central team has either a limited or incorrect view of where your belongings are and cannot provide updates. It took over two weeks for dispatch to find out which storage facility was being used for my stuff, preventing me from retrieving it myself.

The most jarring discrepancy in communication was being told on 12/23 that there was no way my stuff could be there sooner than 1/4 and then getting a call later that day from a driver that he was an hour out.

I ignored the bad reviews because United Transportation Moving and Storage had a decent overall rating, but I would not subject anyone to this moving experience, and deeply regret going with this “cheap” quote.
